522 arrested in Dhaka, 25 cases filed

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 522 people in the capital over the past 24 hours during a regular anti-crime drive.


The arrests were made in different areas of the capital, while 25 cases were filed during the period, according to a DMP statement.

Mirpur division accounted for the highest number of arrests at 168, followed by Tejgaon with 76, Motijheel 64, Ramna 51, Wari 48, Uttara 43, Lalbagh 38, Gulshan 34 and the Detective Branch one. 

Police also seized 4,054 yaba tablets, 346 grams of cannabis, 100 grams of gold, two knives and nine mobile phones during the operations. 

One victim was also rescued, the statement said.

Legal proceedings against the arrested people are underway, reports BSS.
