Charge Hearing Today in Ramisa Murder Case

A Dhaka court is set to hold a charge-framing hearing on Monday in the rape and murder case of child Ramisa Akter, whose death in the capital’s Pallabi area sparked widespread outrage.

The two accused — Sohel Rana and his wife, Swapna Akter — were brought from prison to court early in the morning and placed in the court’s holding cell ahead of the hearing.

The hearing is scheduled to take place at the Dhaka Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, where Judge Masrur Salekin is expected to hear arguments in the presence of the accused.

Court officials said proceedings will determine whether formal charges will be framed, paving the way for the trial to begin.

A court representative confirmed that the accused had been produced before the tribunal for the scheduled hearing.
