A Dhaka court has directed authorities to seek an international arrest warrant against British-Bangladeshi politician Tulip Siddiq by requesting a red notice from Interpol in connection with a corruption case.

Judge Md Sabbir Foyez of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Court issued the order on Thursday after reviewing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the ACC, Siddiq is accused of using her influence to obtain a residential apartment from Eastern Housing Limited without payment. Investigators allege the property was transferred to her through a registered deed as an unlawful benefit.

A red notice, if issued, would alert law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest the accused pending extradition or further legal action.
