Coastal People happy over the establishment of a joint sessions and district judges court in Kalapara

Gofran Palash, Patuakhali: People of the coastal region are happy with the establishment of a new joint sessions court in Kalapara, Patuakhali and the transfer of the joint district judge's court exercising jurisdiction over Kalapara and Rangabali upazilas from the district headquarters to Kalapara upazila headquarters. Alhaj ABM Mosharraf Hossain, the training affairs secretary of the central executive committee of BNP and the BNP nominated candidate for 114, Patuakhali-4 constituency, is being praised for his great initiative to alleviate the long-standing suffering of trial seekers. Ordinary voters, several lawyers, and trial seekers have said that his initiative will have a positive impact on the election campaign by alleviating the suffering of trial seekers in his constituency.

Sources said that the first Colonization Magistrate Chowki Court was established in Kalapara in 1925 to try the criminal acts of people in the remote and inaccessible areas of the southern coastal region of the country. Then, in 1984, an Assistant Judge Court was established in this upazila to settle land disputes, which was again transferred to the district headquarters in 1990. On April 24, 2011, it was re-established in the upazila headquarters. Currently, the valuation of the Senior Assistant Judge Court has been increased to 25 lakhs.

The source further said that the government acquires thousands of acres of land in this upazila for the needs of mega development projects. And to settle disputes between the heirs after receiving the acquisition money, they have to go to the veranda of the Joint District Judge Court in the Patuakhali district headquarters, 40 km away, year after year. This has brought peace to many families. Then there was a demand to shift the Joint District Judge Court to Kalapara. At the same time, the people of the coastal area had long been expecting the establishment of a joint sessions court in Kalapara to ease the suffering of trial related to criminal offenses.

Kalapara Chowki Court Lawyers Association President Advocate Khandaker Nasir Uddin and senior lawyer Advocate Abdus Salam Mia said, from now on, the people of this upazila will no longer have to travel to Patuakhali for the settlement of civil cases year after year. And at the same time, the complainants have regained relief with the establishment of a joint sessions judge court to ensure trial of criminal offenses.

BNP Central Executive Committee Training Secretary Alhaj ABM Mosharraf Hossain said, 'I do politics for the welfare of the people. Apart from this, I believe that I have a debt to this land. Therefore, I have tried to be by the side of the people of my area seeking justice to ease their suffering.
