Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) intern doctors resumed their strike on Saturday afternoon.

Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) intern doctors resumed their strike on Saturday afternoon for three-point demands, including arrest of the attackers.

RMCH intern doctor council president Dr Imran Hossain announced work abstention for 72-hour in front of the hospital at about 1.00pm. After announcement of the strike, doctors abstained from joining to their works.

Dr Imran said they will continue their protest in front of the hospital during the ongoing strike. They asked the authorities concerned to accept the case appeal lodged by the hospital authorities.

Tougher programmes would be announced if the attackers are not arrested within three-day.

Among others, RMCH Management Committee President Fazle Hossain Badsha MP, hospital director Brigadier General Dr. Shamim Yazdani, principal Nowsher Ali and Dr Khalilur Rahman spoke.

On Wednesday night, Rajshahi University student MGM Shahriar, 25, was rushed to the hospital as he fell off the corridor of Shaheed Habibur Rahman Hall of the university. He succumbed to the injuries at 9:30pm.

Later, students of the university and intern doctors locked into clash when the death news of Shahriar was spread, leaving several people injured.

As the news of the attack spread, the students waiting in front of the director’s room attacked intern doctors and staff triggering a clash.

Following the incident, the intern doctors went on strike at night.
