SAU Fresher’s Orientation held

Orientation program of newly admitted students to the 1 st year BSc (Hons) courses of different faculties of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka was held on July 26 at the TSC auditorium of the university.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended the program as the chief guest while SAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Latif presided over the function.

The program was attended among others, Prime Minister's Education Adviser Dr. Mahdi Amin as special guest, Anisur Rahman, MP, from Madaripur-3 constituency, reserved seat MP Sanjida Islam Tulsi, SAU Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Md. Belal Hossain, Treasurer Prof. Md. Abul Basher as esteemed guests.

While emphasizing the need for food Security, LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir observed that ensuring food security for the country's people remains a major challenge and stressed the need for more investment in agricultural research to achieve that goal. The Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister called the agriculturists as the 'fellows very close the country's soil' and advised the students instead of moving beyond the traditional pursuit of government job, rather make stride to establish agro-based industries.

Addressing the function, Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Dr. Mahdi Amin said Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University has made significant contributions to increase agricultural production and advancing agricultural research in the country. He expressed his hope that the newly admitted students would play an important role in building food-security and build a self-reliant Bangladesh.

Vice Chancellor of SAU Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Latif in his speech advised the students to devote them in the studies. He assured that he will make sure; students don’t experience any session delays, even for one day, and arrange accommodation for everyone.

Faculties and all Deans, Directors and other academic officials were present in the function.

In second half of the program, a seminar titled “The Prospects of Agricultural Graduates” was held. The SAU Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Md. Belal Hossain presented the key-note paper.

Prof. Dr. Md. Razzab Ali, Director, IQAC of SAU presented the course lay-out and the program ended with a colourful cultural function.
