
The biennial election and annual general meeting of the association were held on Friday at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of the University of Dhaka.
Chief Election Commissioner Mahfuzur Rahman announced the results shortly after midnight following vote counting. Election commissioners Zahid Newaz Khan, Daulat Akter Mala, Abu Saleh Akon and Angur Nahar Monti were also present during the announcement.
According to the results, Elias Khan secured 275 votes to defeat his nearest rival, Dr. M Kamal Uddin Jasim, who received 126 votes in the presidential race, reports UNB.
Earlier in the afternoon, the alumni association organised a “Jogajog Utshob” (Communication Festival), attended by Road Transport, Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam as the chief guest.
