Bangladesh is set to expand its footprint in high-value manufacturing as a Hong Kong–based Chinese company signed a land lease agreement to establish a greenhouse hydroponics tent factory at the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority Economic Zone.
Green Pure Houseware (BD) Co., Ltd. will invest $30.47 million in the facility, which will manufacture greenhouse hydroponics tents—portable enclosed structures designed for soil-less plant cultivation. The factory will also produce EVA cabinet mats, cartons and PE packaging films.
Officials described hydroponics tents as a non-traditional and high-potential export product, aligning with BEPZA’s strategy to diversify the country’s export basket and tap into specialised global markets.
The company plans to export its products to key destinations, including the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada and Japan.
The project is expected to generate employment for around 3,000 Bangladeshi nationals, supporting job creation and industrial growth within the economic zone.
The agreement was signed at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka, with senior officials from both sides present at the ceremony. BEPZA’s leadership reiterated its commitment to ensuring a business-friendly environment and providing seamless services to facilitate the smooth implementation and operation of the project.
Officials expressed optimism that the investment would further strengthen Bangladesh’s position as a competitive hub for diversified and value-added manufacturing.
