Gold Price Jumps To Tk232,930 Per Bhori

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has increased gold prices in the local market, raising the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk9,856 per bhori (11.664 grams).

The revised prices came into effect at 10:00am on Thursday, according to a BAJUS statement.

Under the new rates, one bhori of 22-carat gold now costs Tk232,930, including VAT.

BAJUS said its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring approved the revised prices at a meeting before issuing the updated rate list.

The price of 21-carat gold has increased by Tk9,448 to Tk222,491 per bhori, while 18-carat gold now costs Tk191,056 per bhori after a Tk8,106 increase.

Gold produced under the traditional method has risen by Tk6,590 to Tk156,064 per bhori.

The latest adjustment comes less than a week after BAJUS revised gold prices on 31 July, when the price of 22-carat gold was increased to Tk223,074 per bhori. That rate remained effective until Thursday morning.

BAJUS has also raised silver prices.

The price of 22-carat silver has increased by Tk292 to Tk4,899 per bhori, including VAT. The price of 21-carat silver now stands at Tk4,666 per bhori after a Tk292 increase, while 18-carat silver has risen by Tk233 to Tk4,024 per bhori.

Silver produced under the traditional method now costs Tk3,033 per bhori, following an increase of Tk175.
