Gold prices in Bangladesh have fallen again after the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced a fresh revision in rates. The new prices came into effect at 10:00am on Tuesday.
Under the revised rates, the price of 22-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 2,216 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk 220,858.
The updated gold prices per bhori are:
22-carat: Tk 220,858 (down Tk 2,216)
21-carat: Tk 210,943 (down Tk 2,100)
18-carat: Tk 181,200 (down Tk 1,750)
Traditional gold: Tk 148,016 (down Tk 1,458)
BAJUS said the latest adjustment was made following a decline in the domestic price of pure (acid-test) gold. The association had raised gold prices just a day earlier, on July 27.
Under the current national budget, a Tk 2,500 VAT is included in the price of each bhori of gold jewellery. As a result, customers will not have to pay VAT separately when purchasing gold jewellery.
BAJUS also revised silver prices. The new rates per bhori are:
22-carat silver: Tk 4,607
21-carat silver: Tk 4,374
18-carat silver: Tk 3,791
Traditional silver: Tk 2,857
The revised gold and silver prices will remain in effect until BAJUS announces another change.
