BGB seizes contraband, yaba worth over Tk 1.8cr in six border drives
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large quantity of smuggled goods, including yaba tablets, drugs and other contraband, in six separate drives along different border areas today.
In Brahmanbaria and Cumilla, Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) seized Indian basmati rice, energy drinks, olive oil, cosmetics, cattle, liquor and other smuggled goods worth an estimated Tk 61.24 lakh, according to a BGB press release.
Meanwhile, a special patrol team of Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) arrested two people and recovered 100,000 yaba tablets from the Palangkhali border area.
The detainees were identified as Bhutto, 38, and Amir Hamza, 26.
In Cox's Bazar, 34 BGB recovered 9,998 yaba tablets and a motorcycle worth about Tk 30.99 lakh from an abandoned spot at Kombonia Bazar.
In Hili, Joypurhat Battalion (20 BGB), in a joint drive with the local administration and police, seized 646 bottles of prohibited sexual stimulant syrup worth Tk 1.61 lakh.
Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB) seized Indian cough syrup, tablets, liquor, cosmetics and raisins worth about Tk 16.19 lakh in separate anti-smuggling drives.
Separately, Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) seized Indian cattle, liquor, sarees, cumin, chocolates and a motorcycle worth an estimated Tk 71.34 lakh.
BGB said intelligence-based and anti-smuggling operations would continue along the border areas, reports BSS.
