Winter vegetable sapling distribution ceremony held by Dhaka Shekor at the Nazrul Stage of Bangla Academy on Saturday.



A winter vegetable sapling distribution ceremony and a reception to gardener Abul Kashem were organised by Dhakar Shekor at the Nazrul Stage of Bangla Academy on Saturday.

About 50 urban roof gardeners of capital Dhaka took part in the programme amid spontaneous enthusisam. Dhakar Shekor organises saping distribution programmes every year and carries forward the roof garden movement in Dhaka City.

Marking the occasion a red kadamba sapling was planted at the Bangla Academy premises. 

Roof gardeners who took part in the programme came from all parts of the metropolis. One of them distributed ripe 'Bombay chillies' among the participants to raise seedlings and expand its cultivation. Nasima Zaman facilitated the distribution of saplings.

Farmer Abul Kashem was presented a bunch of flowers by Mrs Motaleb Mashreki marking his birthday. Dhakar Shekor Trustee Motaleb Mashreki presented a crest to him in recognition of his work as an urban farmer and his contribution to the roof garden movement. Mostafa Kamal Majumder, editor, GreenWatch Dhaka was present.
