The bumper Boro production has brought smiles to the farmers and their family members in the district this season.

Due to favorable weather conditions, there has been a huge production of Boro in the district this season.

The farmers are busy harvesting the crops ignoring the scorching sun and intense heat.

To compensate the damage caused by the last flood, the government has provided incentives to the marginal farmers, including seeds and fertilizers, this year.

This has motivated the farmers to cultivate Boro crop this year. In addition, they have been given demonstration plots. Farmers of the district have cultivated Ubasi varieties of rice along with local varieties on the plots.

Local agricultural officials were active in the fields for regular maintenance and application of fertilizers and pesticides to get good yields. They monitored the fields and provided regular advice to the farmers.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in the current Boro season has set a target to cultivate Boro on 12,488 hectares of land in the district, including local and imported varieties. But Boro has been cultivated on 12,698 hectares of land.

The production target has been set at 53,225 metric tons of rice.

Boro paddy has already been harvested from 7,619 hectares of land.

Deputy Director of DAE Mohammad Bashirul Alam said that there has been a bumper production of Boro in the district this season and the government has taken various steps to ensure fair price of the paddy, reports BSS.
