Two killed in Tangail road accident

Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident at Basail upazila here in the district last evening.


The accident occurred on the Bhatkura-Nalua road in front of Basail Md Hamida Degree College in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Milon, 24, son of Mintu Mia of Gosai Joyair area under Tangail Sadar upazila, and Arfan Khan, 75, son of late Moksed Khan of Chakpara area under Basail Pourasava.

Police and local sources said a motorcyclist with two pillion riders was returning from the Falia Paglar Mela in Sakhipur upazila. When it reached in front of Basail College, the rider lost control of the motorcycle and it rammed into a pedestrian, causing the motorcycle rider and the pedestrian to die on the spot. 

Two other riders of the motorcycle were injured in the accident. The injured were taken to Tangail General Hospital for treatment, reports BSS. 

Officer-in-Charge of Basail Police Station Humayun Kabir said the bodies were handed over to the families, adding that legal action would be taken if any complaint is lodged.
