Two motorcyclists killed in Noakhali road crash

Two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident at Maijdi Bazar under Maijdi upazila of the district early this morning.


The deceased were identified as Abhi Deb Nath, 24, son of Umesh Kumar Bhowmik and Hridoy Chandra Shil, 22, son of Kanu Chandra Shil. Both hailed from Ward No-5 of Binodpur union in Sadar upazila.

The accident occurred around 1:00 am on the main road near Kerani Mosque when a pickup van hit a motorcycle from opposite direction, leaving its rider Abhi dead on the spot and its co-rider Hridoy injured critically.

Hridoy was taken to Noakhali General Hospital. Later, he was referred to Dhaka for advanced treatment. He, however, succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka, reports BSS. 

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Noakhali Sudharam Model Police Station, Monir Hossain confirmed the matter.

Bodies have been recovered and kept at the hospital morgue. 

Further legal action will be taken, he added.
