Schoolboy killed, 9 injured in Dinajpur road crash
A schoolboy was killed and nine others were injured in a head-on collision between an easy bike and a tractor in Chirirbandar upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Khalid Mohammad, 16, a class 10 student of Amena Baki Residential School and College. He was the son of Md Asadullah of Ghughuratli village in the upazila.
The accident occurred around 3:30 pm at Doni Nagar intersection in Isabpur union of the upazila, Inspector (Investigation) of Chirirbandar Police Station Ahsan Habib confirmed.
According to police, Khalid and 10 of his friends were returning home to Ghughuratli on the easy bike from Binyakuri Bazar after taking lunch. While passing through the Doni Nagar intersection, their easy bike collided head-on with a speeding tractor coming from the opposite direction, leaving all passengers injured.
Local people rescued the injured and rushed them to the Chirirbandar Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared Khalid Mohammad dead.
The tractor driver fled the scene after the accident, Inspector Ahsan Habib said, adding, "We seized the tractor and took it to the police station."
