Teenager killed in road crash near Bangabhaban

Dhaka, July 27 - A teenage boy was killed in a road crash after being hit by a truck at the Bangabhaban intersection under Paltan Police Station in the capital on Saturday night.

The victim was identified as Prantopal, 16, son of Ujjal Pal from Gonakarkathi village in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira district.

The crash occurred around 11pm when Prantopal was returning home on a bicycle with his father after work.

Critically injured in the accident, he was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

“My son was riding with me after we had finished selling puffed rice for the night. A truck hit our bicycle at the Bangabhaban intersection. He was thrown off and suffered a severe head injury,” said Ujjal Pal, the victim’s father.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body was kept at the hospital morgue and the concerned police station had been informed.- UNB
