Today, physicians and nurses from Singapore, China and India met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday met with a delegation of 21 physicians and nurses from Singapore, China, and India who are currently in Dhaka to provide specialised medical care to victims of the recent plane crash at Milestone School and College.

During the meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna, the Chief Adviser expressed heartfelt gratitude for the swift medical assistance and solidarity shown by the international teams in a time of national crisis.

“These teams have come not just with their skills, but with their hearts,” said Prof Yunus. “Their presence reaffirms our shared humanity and the value of global partnerships in times of tragedy.”

He praised their dedication and the seamless coordination that allowed them to begin providing care without delay. The foreign doctors and nurses have been working tirelessly alongside local medical professionals to deliver critical treatment and trauma care, particularly to injured children.

Prof Yunus also encouraged the visiting physicians to maintain long-term connections with Bangladesh through virtual collaboration in medical education, research, and capacity building. He stressed that such partnerships could lead to sustained improvements in emergency preparedness and healthcare innovation.

Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum thanked the medical teams for extending a helping hand during this difficult time, while Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Health, Professor Sayedur Rahman, acknowledged that many lives were saved thanks to the teams' prompt arrival and intervention.

Professor Dr Md Nasir Uddin, Director of the National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery, remarked that the mission once again proved that "doctors are without borders."

The medical delegation included 10 members from Singapore, eight from China, and three from India. Also present at the meeting were the Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka, Yao Wen, and the Head of Mission from Singapore.
