2 killed as truck hits auto-rickshaw in Kurigram

Two people were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw at Ghuntighar in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram district on Sunday.


The deceased were identified as Banu Mia, 30, driver of the auto-rickshaw and Anika, 12 of Raiganj area.

The drum truck hit the Bhurungamari-bound auto-rickshaw from Sonahat at noon, leaving Anika dead on the spot and four others injured, said Al Helal Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Bhurungamari police station.

The injured were taken to the Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex where the auto-rickshaw driver succumbed to his injuries.

The three more victims -Abu Bakar Siddique, his wife Morsheda Begum and Fatema, 9- were sent to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital for better treatment, reports UNB.
