Cop killed, another injured as train hits police van in Jamalpur

Deceased Ahsanul Haque, 32, was a constable of Sadar Police Station.



A police constable was killed and another member was injured after a local train hit a police van at a rail crossing in Jamalpur's Sadar upazila early Sunday.

Injured Ariful Islam, who is also a constable of the same police station, was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital in critical condition, said Jamalpur Railway POlice Station OC Mahabur Rahman.

He said a Dewanganj-bound train hit a patrol police van at Shekervita rail crossing area around 4:15am when the van was crossing the rail line. The van then got twisted and constable Ahsanul Haque died on the scene.

Ariful was injured seriously.
