Two garment workers were killed and at least 10 others were injured in a head-on collision between a dump truck and a pickup on the Kanurampur-Trishal road in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh district on Saturday night.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately, but police said both victims were male.

A group of garment workers was returning to Gazipur from Netrokona in a pickup after a two-day holiday. When the vehicle reached the Nauri area around 8:00pm, a speeding dump truck coming from the opposite direction rammed into it head-on, leaving two dead on the spot and ten others injured,  police said.

Azharul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandail Police Station, said four of the injured were admitted to Nandail Upazila Health Complex, two to Trishal Upazila Health Complex, and the remaining victims were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, reports UNB.

Efforts are underway to identify the deceased, and legal proceedings are in progress, the OC added.
