Woman killed in hit-and-run in Satkhira

A 50-year-old woman was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing a road in Chhaygharia area of Satkhira Sadar upazila early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Nachimon Bibi, wife of Inson Ali of Bashghata village in the upazila.
According to locals and police, the accident occurred in the early morning when Nachimon was crossing the road in the Chhaygharia area. A speeding vehicle hit her and fled the scene, leaving her dead on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Shafiqul Islam said police recovered the body and sent it to a morgue for an autopsy, reports UNB.
Legal proceedings in connection with the incident are underway, he added.
