Two people were killed when a bus rammed into a battery-run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in the Bason area of Gazipur city on Thursday.

One of the deceased was identified as Sujon, of Madarganj upazila in Jamalpur district, while the identity of the other could not be known immediately.

The accident occurred around 12:45 pm when a bus of ‘Binimoy Paribahan’ hit the auto-rickshaw after its driver reportedly lost control over steering, leaving two passengers of the three-wheeler dead on the spot, said Harun-or-Rashid, Officer-in-Charge of Bason Police Station.

A local firefighting unit rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies, said Mohammad Mamun, deputy assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The bodies were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue, reports UNB.
