At least 135 Palestinians, including 87 people seeking aid, have been killed and 771 injured in Israeli attacks across Gaza over the past 24 hours, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry.
The ministry reported that the number of starvation-related deaths in Gaza has risen to 193, with five more confirmed in the past day.
UN Assistant Secretary-General Miroslav Jenca told the UN Security Council that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reported push for a full occupation of Gaza is “deeply alarming”. European Commission Vice President Teresa Ribera also condemned the plan, calling it an “unacceptable provocation”.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah declared it would disregard a Lebanese government plan to disarm the group, saying it would treat the proposal “as if it doesn’t exist”.
Since the start of the war, Israeli assaults on Gaza have killed at least 61,158 people and wounded 151,442. In Israel, an estimated 1,139 people were killed during the 7 October 2023 attacks, with more than 200 taken captive.
