At least four terrorists and two soldiers were killed during an intense exchange of fire in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan army said on Wednesday.

The exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorists in the Makin area of South Waziristan district of the province on Tuesday, army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Area clearance is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists in the area, said the ISPR statement, reports UNB.

"Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave officers and soldiers further strengthen our resolve," it added.
