An elephant died after falling ill and collapsing on a road in Mohammadpur upazila, Magura, on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 11 am near Mohammadpur Shyamnagar Petrol Pump, when the elephant fell on top of a van, injuring the driver, Rahmat Ullah. He was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment, said Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rahman.

The police officer suggested that the elephant may have been unwell, and its mahout had taken it out on the village road despite its condition, leading to the accident.

As news of the incident spread, locals gathered at the scene to view the deceased elephant.
