BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has commented that the ruling Awami League government is one of the organisations responsible for the intense heat in Bangladesh. He said, today there is no season in the country. Even people cannot say how many seasons are there in the country. The country is progressively heading towards gradual desertification. Government is responsible for this.

BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas addressing a programme of distribution of heat wave awareness leaflets bottled water and saline among the common people on Friday.

He said, there were more than 1100 rivers in Bangladesh. But about 300 rivers have disappeared due to Awami land bandits. This is the state of the country. On the other hand, bricks, wood and stones have been filled in Dhaka city. No trees can be seen. The reservoirs around Dhaka have been filled with soil and occupied by government-sponsored land grabbers. The government has close contact with the land robbers. The capital has been made an artificial desert.

Mirza Abbas said this while inaugurating a program of distribution of awareness leaflets bottled drinking water and saline among common people to beat heatstroke in the capital on Thursday (April 25) afternoon.

Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) organized the program. Later, the leaders of the organization distributed the materials among the poor and common people.

Presided over by ZRF Executive Director Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Donor the programme was addressed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Education Secretary Prof. Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam, Dhaka University While Panel convener Professor Lutfar Rahman, Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib among others.

Mirza Abbas said that the heat has increased tremendously in the country. Every day people are dying from heatstroke somewhere. Dhaka city is no exception. But this situation was not in Bangladesh in the past. Even in this situation, ZRF has taken initiatives to distribute water and saline to help common people. Because, we do politics for the welfare of society. ZRF takes initiatives in natural calamities including wintry chill and summer heat.

He said that one heat officer has been appointed. I will tell him - tell the government to open the canals in and around Dhaka. Talk about taking action against land grabbers. If not, we have to bring water for the whole country. Today the country including Dhaka city is being desertified. Talk about these things. Only then will I understand that you love the country and Dhaka City.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, people have become suffocated due to intense heat. ZRF stands by the laborers and low income people. Because the main purpose of politics is service to humans. This organisation is led by Tariq Rahman, he added.
