The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain across all divisions of the country during the 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am on Monday.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at most places over the Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at many places over the Khulna Division, with moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places across the country," said a Met Office bulletin.

The country's highest rainfall in the 24 hours until 6:00 am on Monday was recorded in Rangpur’s Dimla at 101 mm.

Day and night temperatures may fall slightly across the country.

The axis of the monsoon trough extends through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam, passing across the northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends into the northwestern Bay of Bengal.

The monsoon is active over the northern part of the country, fairly active elsewhere, and moderate over the North Bay, reports UNB.
