The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms and rain across all eight divisions of the country under the influence of an active western low-pressure system. The system is expected to ease the ongoing heatwave in several areas and bring a gradual drop in temperatures.

According to the forecast valid until Monday evening, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chattogram divisions are likely to experience moderate to very heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal may see light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds.

In Dhaka, the sky is expected to remain cloudy to overcast from around 7:00 am for the next six hours, with a strong chance of thunderstorms, lightning, and rainfall. The city recorded 41 millimetres of rain in the past 24 hours.

At 6:00 am on Monday, Dhaka’s temperature stood at 21.7°C, while humidity was recorded at 97 percent. Wind speeds from the northwest may temporarily increase to 30–40 km/h in gusty conditions. Due to rainfall, daytime temperatures are expected to drop slightly.

The 24-hour outlook suggests that rainfall activity will intensify in the eastern and central regions, particularly in Sylhet and Chattogram, where heavy downpours are likely. Night-time temperatures, however, are expected to remain largely unchanged.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to take shelter during thunderstorms and avoid open areas due to the risk of lightning and severe weather conditions.
