Two children drown in Narail

Two children tragically drowned in a pond at Shibanandapur village under Naragati Thana in Kalia upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.


The deceased were identified as Taslima Khanam, 15, a class ten student, and Kawsar Sheikh, 8, a class two student. Both were children of Ajibar Sheikh, a resident of the village.

According to local police, the two children had gone to bathe in a pond near their home when they went missing. A search was conducted, and their bodies were later found floating in the water. Locals rescued them and took them to the Kalia Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead, reports BSS. 

Confirming the incident, Naragati Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ashikur Rahman said the bodies were handed over to the family after completion of legal procedures.

A case of unnatural death has been registered at the local police station.
