2 madrasa students electrocuted in M'singh

Two madrasa students have been electrocuted this morning while using an electric motor to pump water from a canal for fishing.


The tragic incident occurred at Valuka police station in Mymensingh.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Momin (18), son of Uzzal Mia of Mamalishpur village, and Mehedi Hasan (19), son of Abdul Motaleb of Banbangla Bazar village under Muktagacha upazila.

Both were students of Madrasatu Rawjatus Sunnah Al Arabia Madrasa.

According to eyewitnesses, a number of  students of the madrasa were fishing in a canal in front of the institution by irrigating water using an electric motor. At certain stage, Momin and Mehedi came into contact with electricity and sustained critical injuries.

Locals and fellows immediately rushed them to the nearby Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

Valuka Police Station Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir confirmed the incident, adding that legal procedures are underway, reports BSS.
