Dhaka-Bhanga rail link via Padma Bridge to open Tuesday

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to open the new train service on Dhaka-Bhanga route through Padma Bridge on Tuesday .



Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to open the new train service on Dhaka-Bhanga route through Padma Bridge on Tuesday (October 10).

A new 172-km railway line from Dhaka to Jashore via Padma Bridge is being constructed under the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project. Construction work of 82-kilometer rail line to Bhanga of Faridpur, has been completed.

The premier Sheikh Hasina will attend the inaugural ceremony at Mawa station at 10 am. Then she is scheduled to visit Bhanga crossing the Padma River by train. Later Sheikh Hasina will address a rally there.

Commercial trains will start running on the route after a week of the inauguration. Earlier, Bangladesh Railway (BR) completed a trial run of train from Dhaka to Bhanga station in Faridpur on September 7.
