Two new metro rail stations -- Uttara South and Shewrapara -- are scheduled to be opened on Friday.

Two new metro rail stations -- Uttara South and Shewrapara -- are scheduled to be opened on Friday.

With the opening of these stations, total nine stations from Uttara to Agargaon will come into operation, according to Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL).

DMTCL, which operates the metro rail services, has formed two teams to coordinate with the operation teams of the Uttara South and Sewrapara stations, according to an office order issued Wednesday.

At first, metro trains were operated between Uttara and Agargaon without any stoppages. The authorities opened five other stations gradually.

Currently, the metro rail is being operated from 8:30am to 12:30pm. The authorities earlier said they will increase the duration of the train operation after opening all nine stations.

They will go for full-fledged (morning to midnight) operation from July.
