Egyptian envoy meets commerce adviser

Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh Omar Mohie Eldin Ahmed Fahmy met with Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat today.


During the meeting, they discussed issues related to strengthening of bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two countries, an official release said. 

The commerce adviser said that Egypt is a long-standing friend of Bangladesh while the bilateral relationship with Egypt is very excellent. 

To make this friendly relationship between the two countries stronger and sustainable, he said that boosting trade is now is the demand of the time.

At this time, Bashir laid emphasis on exploring new potentials in trade, said. 

The  advisor focused on increasing the export of Bangladeshi products to Egypt, especially in sectors such as jute and jute-made good, ready-made garments, medicines and ceramics.

In response, the Egyptian ambassador said that Egypt sincerely believes that Bangladesh is a friendly country while Egypt and Bangladesh have historical relations. 

Egypt exports petrochemicals, fertilizer and high-quality raw cotton to Bangladesh.

Mentioning that Bangladesh is the world's second largest exporter of ready-made garment, the Egyptian Ambassador said that Bangladesh can avail more opportunities to export quality RMG items by using high-quality cotton from Egypt.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Nasreen Jahan and Additional Secretary (FTA) of the Ministry of Commerce Ayesha Akhter were present in the meeting, reports BSS.
