More than 30 lakh taxpayers have submitted their income tax returns online so far, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) said on Monday.

According to an NBR statement, a total of 45 lakh TIN holders have registered on the e-return system to file their returns this fiscal year. The authority expects at least another 10 lakh submissions before the extended deadline of 31 January.

This year, online tax return submission is mandatory for all taxpayers except those aged 65 or above, persons with disabilities, Bangladeshi citizens living abroad, legal representatives of deceased taxpayers, and foreign nationals working in Bangladesh.

To assist taxpayers, the NBR has established a dedicated call centre for e-return support. Written complaints and queries can also be submitted through the eTax Service option on the official website, www.etaxnbr.gov.bd.
