Remittance Hits $2.85bn in July, Up 15.4% YoY

Expatriate Bangladeshis sent home US$2.85 billion in remittances in July, the first month of fiscal year 2026–27, marking a 15.4 percent increase from the same month a year earlier, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank.

The country received $2.47 billion in remittances in July 2025.

Bangladesh Bank data show that overseas Bangladeshis remitted $152 million through formal banking channels during the final two days of July alone.

The strong inflow reflects the continued upward trend in remittances, supported by government incentives and a growing preference among migrant workers to use legal banking channels.

Economists say the steady rise in remittance earnings will help strengthen the country's foreign exchange reserves, ease pressure on import payments and support overall macroeconomic stability.

Alongside export earnings, remittances remain one of Bangladesh's largest sources of foreign currency and play a vital role in supporting household consumption and the national economy.
