Bangladesh received $1.943 billion in remittances during the first 19 days of July, the opening month of the 2026-27 fiscal year, marking a 27.6 percent increase from the $1.522 billion recorded during the same period last year.
The latest figures were released by the Bangladesh Bank on the basis of updated remittance data.
According to the central bank, expatriate Bangladeshis sent $140 million on July 19 alone. Revised data also showed that remittance inflows reached $166 million between July 16 and 18.
Officials said the strong remittance flow at the beginning of the fiscal year would help strengthen the country's foreign exchange reserves and provide additional support to the economy.
The continued rise in remittance inflows has been viewed as a positive sign for external sector stability, particularly in boosting foreign currency availability and easing pressure on the balance of payments.
