Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammed Amin Ur Rashid today described the current administration as agriculture-friendly, noting the sector has been prioritized for national welfare.

The minister made these remarks today while addressing a view exchange meeting with officials from the departments of Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries and Livestock at the Cumilla Circuit House.

Stressing the government's commitment to the people, the minister stated that the public trusts the administration to work for the country's welfare.

"Since 70 percent of the population depends on agriculture, the nation's economic position would be significantly strengthened only through the advancement of the agricultural field," he added.

He further emphasized the necessity of active cooperation and support from officials working at the field-level to realize this vision.

Highlighting the critical role of fisheries and livestock in ensuring national food security and driving economic development, the minister urged all concerned to work with sincerity to further advance these sectors.

Touching upon political pledges, the minister mentioned that most of the BNP's promises in the last election were directed toward farmers and marginal communities.

The implementation of such promises would primarily benefit the farming population, he said, adding that the government believes the well-being of the 70 percent of the population engaged in agriculture is essential for the administration's overall success.

Organised by the Cumilla District Administration, the meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Md. Reza Hasan.

The session was attended by Superintendent of Police (SP) Asaduzzaman, Director General (DG) of the Department of Fisheries Md. Abdur Rauf, DG of the Department of Livestock Services Dr. Abu Sufian, Director of the Department of Livestock Services Shamsul Alam, Director of the Chattogram Regional Food Control Office S M Kaiser Ali and Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md. Mizanur Rahman, alongside other departmental, district, and upazila level officials.

The participants discussed the development of the agriculture, food, and fisheries sectors, focusing on increasing service quality and reviewing the progress of ongoing activities.

During the session, speakers highlighted various problems and potentials encountered at the field level.

Following the discussions, the minister provided necessary directives for resolving existing issues and concluded by seeking full cooperation from field-level officials to ensure sectoral success, reports BSS.
