BNP Chairman and Prime Minister-in-waiting Tarique Rahman paid a courtesy call on Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, on Monday evening, a day before forming the next government following his party’s landslide victory in Thursday’s national election.

The meeting took place at Rezaul Karim’s Siddheswari residence around 7:15 pm. BNP Media Cell member Atikur Rahman Rumon described the visit as a positive political gesture after the polls.

Rezaul Karim’s brothers welcomed Tarique Rahman with floral wreaths. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir accompanied him during the visit.

Earlier on Sunday, Tarique Rahman also paid courtesy calls on Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and NCP Convener Nahid Islam.

In the recent election, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secured 68 seats, the National Citizen Party won six, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh won one seat.
