“Voters will act in line with the aspirations of the youth and the demand for a corruption-free and just society. Those who deny the spirit of 2024 cannot claim the mandate of 2026,” he said while addressing an electoral rally at the Padua ACM High School ground in Lohagara, Chattogram.
Dr. Rahman said the ongoing political struggle aims to establish a humane, just, and corruption-free Bangladesh under honest leadership that reflects the hopes of the younger generation.
He paid tribute to the martyrs and injured activists of the July uprising, particularly the youth protesters who, he said, stood fearlessly against oppression and made historic sacrifices for the nation’s future. He vowed that their sacrifices would not be betrayed.
“The youth of Bangladesh never demanded unemployment allowances; they demanded dignity, justice, and opportunities based on merit,” he said, adding that a future government would focus on education, training, and dignified employment rather than handouts.
Highlighting the role of women, the Jamaat chief said their participation was decisive in bringing about change and stressed the need to ensure dignity, security, and respect for women in society.
Dr. Rahman also condemned corruption, extortion, and loan defaulting, alleging that around USD 234 billion—equivalent to Tk 28 lakh crore—had been siphoned off abroad over the years. He pledged to recover the money and return it to the state treasury if an “Insaf (justice)-based” government is formed under Jamaat-e-Islami.
“Past leadership enriched itself while depriving the people. When leadership is corrupt, the entire system collapses,” he said, emphasizing the need for clean and accountable governance.
He warned extortionists to abandon illegal activities, saying corruption and intimidation would not be tolerated, while assuring those willing to reform that they would be rehabilitated through training and employment opportunities.
Calling for national unity, Dr. Rahman said Jamaat-e-Islami seeks not party-centric power but the empowerment of the people. He urged voters to remain vigilant and exercise their franchise responsibly to ensure justice, transparency, and good governance.
Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Dr. Colonel (Retd.) Oli Ahmed, Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer ANM Shamsul Islam, Chattogram South District Jamaat Ameer Anwarul Alam Chowdhury, and candidates from several constituencies also addressed the rally.
Leaders of allied parties, local political figures, journalists, and supporters from across the region attended the event.
