Patuakhali: BNP's nominated candidate for 114, Patuakhali-4 constituency and Central BNP's Training Affairs Secretary Alhaj ABM Mosharraf Hossain said, 'The indigenous Rakhine community is an integral part of the history and heritage of this region. It is the responsibility of the state to improve their living standards, preserve their culture and ensure their civil rights. He called on everyone to work together to solve the problems of the Rakhine community for education, health, safe housing and land.' He said these words at an exchange of views with the indigenous Rakhine community at the Rakhine Community Center Auditorium in Gora Amkhola Para, Kuakata, Patuakhali at 10 am on Sunday.
Under the chairmanship of Bangladesh Rakhine Buddhist Welfare Association, Patuakhali District Branch General Secretary Monglachin, ABM Mosharraf further said, 'Former Prime Minister Late Khaleda Zia has also made special contributions to the development of the indigenous Rakhine community and small ethnic groups at various times. The former Prime Minister spoke about government initiatives in preserving the language and culture of the Rakhine community, developing educational institutions, improving communication infrastructure and improving the quality of life in her speech.'
Kalapara Upazila BNP President Haji Humayun Sikder, Mahipur Thana BNP President Md. Abdul Jalil Howlader, General Secretary Advocate Shahjahan Parvez, Senior Vice President Mohiuddin Musulli Sultan, Kuakata Municipality BNP General Secretary Md. Matiur Rahman Howlader, Kalapara Municipality BNP Organizing Secretary Kamruzzaman Kajal Talukder were present as special guests in the meeting.
Bangladesh Rakhine Buddhist Welfare Association Patuakhali District President Emong Talukder, Rakhine Buddhist Vihar Patuakhali District President Mongkhen, and leaders of BNP and allied organizations were also present in the meetinh. A large number of Rakhine men and women from Kuakata, Latachapoli and Mahipur areas participated in the meeting.
In the exchange of views, the leaders of the Rakhine community highlighted their various problems, expectations and development needs. The speakers emphasized the contribution of the indigenous people to peaceful coexistence, religious harmony and the overall development of the coastal region.
