BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

BNP Standing Committee member and personal physician to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, said today that any decision on sending her abroad for advanced treatment will depend entirely on her physical condition and the recommendations of the medical board overseeing her care.

Speaking at a health briefing at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka around 9 pm, Dr Zahid said, “The issue of going abroad depends completely on her overall health and the medical board’s advice.”

He said all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the highest standard of treatment available in the country. “The responsibility for her care rests with the doctors and healthcare workers here. God is the one who heals. She is receiving world-class medical support. If the board advises treatment abroad, we will inform everyone through you,” he added.

Dr Zahid said Khaleda Zia’s condition has remained unchanged for the past three days. “Her condition has been stable for three days, Alhamdulillah. Medically, this means she is tolerating the ongoing treatment. Please pray for her recovery.”

He urged BNP leaders and activists not to crowd the hospital, noting that around 300 other patients are admitted there. “We request everyone to avoid unnecessary gatherings so that treatment activities are not disrupted. Please stay in your areas and pray for her well-being,” he said.

Dr Zahid added that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is monitoring Khaleda Zia’s treatment regularly. He also said many heads of state, heads of government and foreign dignitaries have expressed concern over her health, and Tarique Rahman has conveyed his gratitude for their support.
