BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said the country’s workforce must be transformed into skilled human resources to realise the vision of a new Bangladesh inspired by the spirit of the July Uprising.

“Our dream of a new Bangladesh depends on turning existing manpower into resources, the main driving force for the nation’s future development,” he said.

Khasru made the remarks as chief guest at a seminar titled “Skilled Manpower—The Foundation of Nation Building”, organised by the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) at its Kakrail auditorium. The event also marked Public Engineering Day and IDEB’s 55th founding anniversary.

Convener Kabir Hossain chaired the seminar, while Secretary General Kazi Shakhawat Hossain moderated.

Highlighting the need for a merit-based Bangladesh, Khasru said progress is impossible without technology-driven development. “In this era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the world has advanced significantly. To reach that level, we must build a technology-dependent nation,” he added.

He announced BNP’s plan to create ten million jobs if it comes to power, focusing on agriculture, cottage industries, IT, business, and other sectors. “This is not just a political statement; it comes after thorough planning,” Khasru said, adding that BNP would prioritise broad-based sectoral investment rather than pursuing mega-projects.

The BNP leader stressed that high aspirations and leadership are essential to transform the country. “A nation without ambition cannot prosper,” he said.

Khasru also reiterated BNP’s commitment to allocate five percent of the annual budget for education and healthcare, promising free primary education and healthcare for all, and the introduction of technical education from the primary level.
