Dhaka, Oct 11 - The July National Charter Signing Ceremony will now be held on October 17, instead of October 15, to ensure broader public participation by aligning the event with the weekend.

The decision was made at a meeting of the National Consensus Commission held on Saturday at the State Guest House Jamuna, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Commission Vice-Chairman Prof Dr Ali Riaz said the ceremony marks a historic moment and holding it on a Friday afternoon will make it more accessible to members of the public who wish to attend.

Representatives from various political parties and alliances across the country will participate in the signing ceremony, he said, adding that individuals from diverse professional backgrounds and social groups will be invited.

NCC member Dr Badiul Alam Majumder, Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Monir Haider were also present at the meeting. - UNB
