Bangladesh has intensified joint efforts with UK authorities to recover stolen money, said Shafiqul Alam, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary.

“Recovering stolen funds is a difficult and time-consuming process. That is why the interim government has sped up efforts to bring back the stolen money,” Alam said during a press briefing in London on Wednesday (local time).

He added that Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen and Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur are accompanying Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on his visit to London.

“The ACC chief and the central bank governor jointly met with the UK’s National Crime Agency to discuss asset recovery,” Alam said.

He also noted that meetings are ongoing to learn from other countries’ experiences in recovering stolen assets.
