BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir flew to Bangkok, Thailand, for urgent eye treatment early on Tuesday.

Accompanied by his wife, Rahat Ara Begum, Fakhrul departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:45 am on a Thai Airways flight, according to BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.

Sayrul explained that Fakhrul experienced an eye issue on Monday morning and sought medical attention at United Hospital in Gulshan. After a thorough examination, doctors advised immediate surgery for a retinal issue in one of his eyes.

Following medical recommendations, an appointment was quickly arranged at Rutnin Eye Hospital in Bangkok to proceed with the necessary surgery.

On behalf of Fakhrul’s family, Sayrul asked the public to pray for the BNP Secretary General's swift recovery.

It is noteworthy that this marks Fakhrul’s second trip abroad for medical treatment this year, as he and his wife traveled to Singapore on April 6 for a check-up and further medical attention.
