Protesters gather at the intersection of Minto Road and Hare Road, near the Jamuna state guest house, for a rally calling for the banning of the Awami League.

A rally calling for the banning of the Awami League began around 2:00 pm today near the Chief Adviser's official residence in the Minto Road area of Dhaka.

Earlier, at approximately 12:30 pm, protesters marched from in front of the Chief Adviser's residence, Jamuna, to the main rally site, where a stage had been set up for the demonstration.

By 2:00 pm, a large number of students and citizens had gathered in response to a call from Hasnat Abdullah, the Chief Organizer (South) of the National Citizen Party (NCP).

Meanwhile, the police had erected barricades on the road leading from Hotel Intercontinental toward Kakrail Mosque, halting vehicular traffic.

The demonstrators were chanting slogans demanding the Awami League be banned.

Addressing the crowd, NCP's Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari said, "After Juma prayers, students and citizens will gather in front of the fountain and will not leave until a resolution is achieved."

Hasnat Abdullah added, "We will remain in the streets until the fascist, genocidal Awami League is declared a terrorist organization, its registration is revoked, the party is banned, and a clear judicial roadmap for their trial is presented."

Leaders and activists from several Islamist parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami's Dhaka South Secretary Shafiqul Islam Masud, also attended the rally.

This demonstration follows an ongoing sit-in that began around 10:00 pm the previous night in front of the Chief Adviser's residence. The sit-in has continued uninterrupted throughout the day, with participation from NCP supporters and members of allied parties.
