Dr. Yunus Directs Preparations for Peaceful Elections

Dr. Yunus issued these directives during a meeting with Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and other senior officials.

Earlier, on March 17, the Chief Adviser had convened a special meeting with field-level police officers, where they discussed the challenges and opportunities they face in their duties. Wednesday's meeting primarily focused on addressing the concerns raised by these officers.

Dr. Yunus outlined several key measures to improve conditions for police officers, particularly those at the grassroots level. These included reviewing the risk allowance and considering lifting the current ceiling, procuring new vehicles—including 364 pickups and 140 prisoner vans—disbursing funds for completing ongoing police infrastructure projects that are less than 70% finished, and providing funds to acquire land to replace rented buildings for 65 police stations. Additionally, he suggested exploring interest-free loans to assist Sub-Inspectors (SI) and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) in purchasing motorcycles.

The Chief Adviser also stressed the importance of classifying district police forces based on performance, with special focus on improving the effectiveness of lower-performing units.

These efforts, he emphasized, are vital to ensuring a smooth and peaceful election process.
