Attempts to destabilize country will be dealt with firmly: Muktadir

"A certain group is carrying out activities aimed at disrupting peace and stability at a time when the country is moving forward on a democratic and constitutional path. But their conspiracy will never succeed in the face of united resistance from the people and conscious party activists," he said.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a protest rally organised by Sylhet Metropolitan BNP this afternoon as part of a central programme protesting attempts to destabilise the country through planned violence.

After the rally, the participants brought out a procession that paraded different streets of the city.

Muktadir, also an adviser to the BNP Chairperson, said the government is working relentlessly to ensure the welfare of the common people.

He said the government is closely monitoring the market situation to keep the prices of essential commodities stable while taking initiatives to remove various tariff barriers to international trade.

"Any attempt by any group to create violence will be politically confronted on the streets," he said.

Sylhet Metropolitan BNP president Nasim Hossain presided over the rally, while its general secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury moderated it.

BNP National Executive Committee assistant organising secretary (Sylhet division) Miftah Siddiqui addressed the rally as the chief speaker.

Former Sylhet Metropolitan BNP general secretary Badruzzaman Selim, metropolitan BNP vice-presidents Ziaul Gani Arifin Zillur, Syed Moin Uddin Sohel, Amir Hossain, Dr Ashraf Ali, Afzal Uddin and Abdur Rahim Mallik, among others, also spoke, reports BSS.
