Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Advocate M. Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu today said the government is working to ensure the rights of working people to build a welfare-oriented state by securing their occupational safety.

He made the remarks while speaking at a workers’ rally, organized by the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, at the District Council Auditorium here this morning, marking the International Workers’ Day.

Dulu said steps have already been taken to safeguard workers’ rights and ensure their professional safety.

He added that collective efforts would help achieve equitable development in the country.

“The 31-point outline of the Prime Minister emphasizes ensuring the rights and welfare of workers,” he said, adding that the government always stands beside laborers.

The rally was presided over by District Sramik Dal President Abu Raihan Bhulu.
District BNP leaders Rahim Newaz, Asaduzzaman Asad, Saiful Islam Aftab and Mostafizur Rahman Shahin also spoke, reports BSS.

The Whip later led a colourful procession marking the May Day.

Meanwhile, the district administration observed May Day with a procession from the Collectorate premises, followed by a discussion at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
